Abel J. Correia, 75, of Acushnet passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 in Beth Israel Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Adelina (Santos) Correia.

Born in Portugal, a son of Daniel Correia and Francisca Bapista Abel served in the army in France before coming to the United States to build a life for him and his beloved wife. Abel worked as a Mason for many years and retired at age 64 from Costa Brothers Masonry. He was an artist in masonry. He was a hard working man who did everything for his family. When he retired, he helped his daughter build her new home with his beautiful craft of masonry. He was a selfless man who loved helping people. He always had a smile on his face.

His hobbies were cooking and spending time with his wife and family. He loved spending time with his wife and family, especially his beloved little grandson, Jagger. Abel was a huge Benfica fan as well.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Aida C. Sousa and her husband Phillip E. Sousa of Acushnet; a grandson, Jagger P. Sousa; siblings, Fatima Marcelino, Joao Correia, Antonio Baptista, and Purificacao Correia; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Amalia Correia.

His funeral will be Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
