Adela Barbara Ponichtera

A lifelong New Bedford resident, Mrs. Ponichtera was the daughter of the late Paul and Catherine (Machaj) Dubiel.

Adela worked as a stitcher in the local garment industry until her retirement from Elco Dress Co. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, belonged to the Holy Rosary Society and was a member of the former OLPH Society.

Mrs. Ponichtera is survived by her 2 children, Dr. Paul W. Ponichtera and his wife Karen of Hingham and Christine M. Poyant and her husband Dennis of Texas; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Steven Dubiel.

Her funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 North Front Street, New Bedford. Friends and relatives are invited to meet at the church. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation is respectfully omitted.
