

Albert A. Paquette, age 100 of East Freetown passed away at home on July 10, 2025. Al was the recent widower of Cecile Paquette to whom he was married 76 years. He was a long-time resident of East Freetown, Mass.
Albert was born in Taunton , Mass. He was the son of Oscar Paquette and Rose (Valliere) Paquette.
Al was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army Asiatic and Pacific Army occupations. He was a rifleman and earned an expert infantry badge.
After his military service, Al apprenticed under Walter Townsend to learn boat carpentry skills. He then worked many years as a boat carpenter for Concordia boat yard Padanaram and Port Edgewood marina in Cranston, Rhode Island. Locally, he built many small wooden boats that sailed on Long Pond. He built his own home and a few other homes in the East Freetown area. He performed carpentry work for several local churches including St. Bernard Church in Assonet and St. Anthony Church in Mattapoisett.
Albert's favorite hobbies always included woodworking. Anything made of wood from bat and bird houses to furniture, he was sure to try to build it . The family remembers how he enjoyed building a Friendship sloop boat and sailing it out of Padanaram harbor. His wooden items were often seen at local craft fairs. He had been a loyal member of the VFW and a parishioner of Saint John Neumann Church, East Freetown Mass.
He is survived by his two sons ; Larry Paquette and his wife Karen of Mattapoisett and Donald Paquette and his wife Diana of Lakeville, granddaughter; Jennifer, a sister ; Jeanette Lockwood of Marion, Mass., and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jean Claude Paquette, Reginald Paquette, Leon Paquette, Oscar Paquette , Margaret Riley, Rose L'heureux and Antoinette “Twinny” Paquette.
The family thanks Bristol Elder Services and Best of Care Inc. for the compassionate care they provided to both Albert and Cecile.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Albert and Cecile at St. Bernard Church , Assonet, MA . on August 16, 2025 at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Assonet Cemetery.
