Alcino Neves Martins

Born in Mamarrosa, Aveiro, Portugal, the son of the late Francisco and Rosa (Oliveira) Martins he worked as a plumber and handy man until becoming disabled.

Alcino enjoyed going for espresso with friends and family. He also enjoyed reading spiritual and health and healing books and jewelry repairs and design.

In addition to his wife, he is survived three daughters: Carla DeMello and her husband Steven of New Bedford, Paula Martins of New Bedford, Maria R. Raposo and her husband Mario of North Dartmouth, four grandchildren: Richard M. Raposo, Danny M. Raposo, Nathan A. Pereira, Steven DeMello, Jr., two great grandchildren: Dreyson M. Raposo, Ariana M. Raposo and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lineu Neves dos Santos.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 270 Peachtree St. NE #1040, Atlanta, GA 30303.

His visitation will be held Friday, July14, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8am at the funeral home followed by his Funeral Mass at St Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford at 9am.
