Aldea “Dee” Meunier, 93, of New Bedford passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family . She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice “Moe” Meunier, with whom she had shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in New Market, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Armand and Cora (Duhamel) Secour, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford.
Aldea’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family. She was incredibly loving and patient. As her children grew older, she opened her home to foster babies and provided care to a small group of children while their parents worked. She cared for all of these young ones as if they were her own. Infants and children were her ultimate joy in life!
She worked outside the home throughout her life in various positions but would never let these jobs interfere with her priority of her family. As her family grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren her love and happiness grew as well. She would always say she had so much to live for when talking about her family until the day she passed.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Romanelli and her husband John of Acushnet; five sons, Robert Meunier and his wife Michele of Acushnet, Donald Meunier (predeceased) and his wife June of New Bedford, Marc Meunier of Dunedin, Florida, Paul Meunier and his wife Robin of Rochester, Dennis Meunier and his wife Terri of Plymouth. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her adored 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Bryanne, Kara, Kristen and Noah Meunier, Jenna Douglas, Jillian Sullivan, Caroline Correia, Emily Lacasse, John and Ted Romanelli. Aldea was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of one more soon; several nieces and nephews and a cherished family friend, Sherry England Baptista. She was predeceased by her brother, Rene Secour.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 am in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., E. Freetown. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8 pm at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
