Alfred N. Girouard

ALFRED N. GIROUARD, age 83, of New Bedford died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Irene Marie (Desrosiers) Girouard.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Samuel and Blanche (Henri) Girouard.
Mr. Girouard was educated in the New Bedford school system and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Foreman at Sacred Heart Cemetery for over 30 years before retiring. He was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church and a member of the VFW Poirier Post in New Bedford.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Ronald Girouard and his wife Elaine of New Bedford and Marc Girouard and his wife Carole, of Acushnet; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Leo and Arthur Girouard of California; a sister, Therese Grimes and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Armand and Normand Girouard.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 9 AM from ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his funeral mass at 10 AM in, St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours, Friday 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the American Lung Association of MA, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.

Auntie Irene and Family,
It's been so many years that have gone by and I wanted to say how sorry I am, and my family is for your loss. Uncle Alfred was very special to us all, and we miss everyone so much. I will never forget the times our families spent together before we moved to Florida. All such great memories to cherish. Our deepest sympathy and prayers to your family from ours. God Bless.
