Andrew Romeo Langlois was blessed with a large appetite for linguica hot dogs, Portuguese clam boils, Charleston chews (frozen) and any type of snack that was sweet or salty. He praised the inventor of Jello as a Genius and went out eating cupcakes and strawberry shortcake.
The meaning of the name Andrew is “strong and manly”, which befitted his character to the “T”. Encountering numerous challenges in his life that would leave others backing away in fear, Andrew faced those obstacles with unyielding courage and he lived up to his middle name raising the bar for all others to follow in his footsteps.
He married his high school sweetheart and when looking to find a place to raise his family, he closed his eyes and placed a finger on the map. It landed on the coast of North Carolina. They moved the family which was then just his wife and first born Son, Andrew, and soon two additional sons, Jonathan and Isaac joined them. He captained various parasailing and tourist boats, and became a finish carpenter on the Norfolk Naval base, where he traveled the world refitting these vessels.
He loved his three sons beyond measure, the ocean, scuba diving, motorcycles and trucks. He was an avid New England Sports fan, a “give-his-shirt-off-his-back" man, a “jack of all trades” man, a carpenter and a licensed Captain who could navigate the smallest of sailboats to the largest of cargo ships and tell the tallest of tales.
He is survived by his three sons Andrew, Jonathan and Isaac Langlois; his precious granddaughter Emery which was a dream of his to meet; his brothers Michael and Edward Langlois; his sisters Angela McCarty, Celeste Langlois and Mckinley Black. He leaves 5 nephews, 3 nieces, 5 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, and many many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Maria M’kinley, his father Emery Langlois and his sister Rosemary Machado.
When asked what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would answer without hesitation, "My three sons".
