Ann E. Santangelo, RN

April 13, 1940May 18, 2020

Ann E. (Jehnke) Santangelo, RN, age 80 of Rochester, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with ALS at The Oaks Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in New Bedford. Ann was the wife of the late John A. Santangelo. They shared 56 years of marriage prior to John’s passing on March 23, 2020.

Born in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late Henry and Bella (Rodrigues) Jehnke, she was a long-time resident of the Southcoast. Ann was a graduate of Toms River High School in NJ and received a degree in Nursing from St. Michael’s School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Michael's Hospital and Community Hospital in New Jersey.

Ann had a strong faith in God and loved her parish family at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Ann had a passion for gardening, was an avid reader, loved singing in the church choir, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her children and beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her 5 children. Three sons: Rev. Christopher Santangelo, SS.CC. of California, Michael Santangelo of East Freetown, and Scott Santangelo and his wife Kristin of Assonet; and two daughters: Marybeth Bellefeuille of East Freetown, and Kathleen Allen and her husband Scott of Bridgewater. Her cherished seven grandchildren: Jakob, Heather, Alexander, Charles, Emily, Daniel, and Kora. She is also survived by her siblings: Henry Jehnke of NJ, John Paul Jehnke of TX, and Mary Elizabeth Willi of NJ, and several nieces and nephews.

Please know that in this time of loss God is there to give you strength. I'm so sorry for the loss of this family. Ann made fantastic brown bread when we had the ham and bean suppers at church. Fr.
