She was the wife of the late Edward S. Morris, who died in 2002. They were married 60 years. Polly was born in Chatham Hill Virginia, daughter of George W. Olinger and Grace (Orr) Olinger. During World War II, she worked in a defense plant in Norfolk, Virginia. While living in Norfolk, she met Eddie, who was serving in the Navy. When he shipped out to Europe in 1943, she moved to Acushnet to live with his parents.
Polly loved to work in her flower gardens and going fishing and shellfishing with Eddie. They also took long walks together. She enjoyed picking apples and made the best apple pies and cheesecakes. She made many beautiful quilts, pieced and quilted by hand, and gave most of them to her family. She also loved watching the Red Sox. Polly especially loved children and they loved her. Most of all, she loved being with her family.
She is survived by her children, Patricia DeSouza (David) of Fairhaven, Elaine (Glenn) and Edward S. Morris, Jr. of Acushnet; grandchildren, Rebecca Napier (Dan), Mark (Sherry), Kimberly Farias (Tony), Linda, and Lauri; great grandchildren, Nichole, Brendon, Paige, Jaydon, Rileigh, and Gavin; and great-great grandson, Ayden.
Polly is also survived by her sisters Nancy Haga of Longs, SC, Louise Stokesbury of The Villages, FL, and Irene Pope of Lula, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ruby Whitely, William Olinger, Carson Olinger, Doris Beech, George W. Olinger, Jr., Peggy Jean Olinger, and daughter-in-law, Diane Morris.
