Anthony L. “Butch” Cabral, Jr., 69, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston following a long illness. He was the husband of Nancy C. “Jodi” (Jodoin) Cabral with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Philomena (Souza) Cabral, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Mr. Cabral had a successful career as an auto mechanic until his retirement.
Butch enjoyed fishing, gardening and body building in earlier years. He played Santa Claus for the Mayor’s Office in New Bedford and was one of the chefs for the Crime Watch group’s cookout events.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Anthony L. Cabral, III and his wife Heather of New Bedford; a sister, Marianne Cunha and her husband Ronald of Acushnet; two brothers, Luiz Cabral of New Bedford and David J. Cabral and his wife Maryanne of Dartmouth; a grandchild, Kelsie Cabral; five step-grandchildren, Micah, Jake, Zekiah, Adrian and Tirzah Lucas; a goddaughter, Tammi Miller; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a goddaughter, Amy L. Cabral.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Funeral Service, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
