Antonio Da Costa
July 28, 1933 – March 16, 2023

Antonio Da Costa, 89, of New Bedford, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria L. (Pacheco) Da Costa, the love of his life, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria Rosa (De Jesus) Da Costa.
Antonio worked in Construction for Star Plating and Nogueira Paving Company for many years. He enjoyed gardening and loved to laugh. Spending time with his family was very important, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom he adored. He will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife Maria, are his children, Claudio Da Costa and his wife Almerinda of New Bedford, Lucilia Resendes and her husband Manuel of New Bedford, Antonio Costa and his wife Cindy of New Bedford, Ana Da Silva and her husband John of Acushnet, Jose Da Costa and his wife Kim of New Bedford, Maria Miranda and her husband Joao of North Dartmouth, Ernesto Da Costa and his wife Emilia of Freetown, Carlos Da Costa and his wife Sandra of New Bedford; eighteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Mary Joe Da Costa.
His visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 8:30am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA 02746. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
