Antonio T. Goncalo

Antonio T. Goncalo, 76, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria H. (Arruda) Goncalo with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael Azores, a son of the late Antonio and Maria (Tavares) dos Anjos he was a communicant of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mr. Goncalo worked as a laborer in the steel and metal industry for 33 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, maintaining his home, going to church, and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amanda Fernandes and her husband Jose of Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Kristen Fernandes, Megan Fernandes, and Ryan Fernandes; siblings, Norvinda Medeiros of Fall River, John Goncalo and his wife Maria of Fall River, Connie Saraiva and her husband Jorge of Swansea, Horace Goncalo of Fall River, and Maria Reis and her husband Luis of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Augustine Goncalo and Jose Goncalo and brother-in-law of the late Duarte Medeiros.

His funeral will be Monday, September 15, 2025 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Chrisitan at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
