Antonio Fernandes Pereira

Born in Travassos, da Cha, Portugal, he was a long time New Bedford resident. He proudly served in the Portuguese Army. Antonio was employed as a presser for Justin Clothing. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and his beloved late Buster. He was an Avid Benfica fan, who enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and tending to his Chestnut trees. Antonio was extremely proud and excited that he was going to be great-grandfather of two.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Ana M. Valente and her husband Paulo of New Bedford and Silvina M. Cruz and her late husband Anthony A. Cruz of New Bedford; two brothers, Domingos Pereira of Portugal and Joaquim Pereira of Ludlow; two sisters Benta and Ermelinda Pereira of Portugal; a special niece, Maria Fatima Pereira of New Bedford; four grandchildren Anthony Cruz Jr, Joshua Cruz, Makayla Cruz and Matthew Valente. He was the brother of the late Joao Pereira and Alvino Gonsalves.

Antonio’s Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 9:30AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, 136 Earl Street, New Bedford, MA 02746.
