Born in Penalonga Tras-os-Montes Portugal, a son of the late Jose M. and Josafina (Branco) Pires. Antonio was employed as a presser for Justin Clothing prior to his retirement. Tony loves his family more than anything. He enjoyed spending time with his loving wife Rosa. He also enjoyed visits with his daughter Ana and her husband Peter.
He was an avid and very passionate fan of the Benfica soccer team, enjoyed Portuguese music and dancing as well as family trips to Portugal. He will be fondly remembered as a caring and compassionate man.
In addition to his loving wife, Rosa, he is survived by his daughter Ana Amaral and her husband Peter of New Bedford; two brothers, Jose and Orlindo Branco both of Portugal; He was predeceased by his siblings, Alfredo, Maria, Virgilio and Ana.
His funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 9:00AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA 02745. Visitation Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
