November 25, 1931July 24, 2020

Armande E. Abaray, 88, passed peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020, after a long and full life. Armande was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, John P. Abaray.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late George and Leontine (Michaud) Menard, she had resided in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Armande had worked as a salesperson in local department stores, specifically Zayres and Ames. She previously worked at Knapp Shoe and Aerovox.

Her family extends their gratitude to her “second family” the girls at Atria Fairhaven for all of the patience, kindness and compassion they provided through these past years. A special thanks to Alden Court and South Coast Hospice for the overall comfort that was provided.

She is survived by her children, John “Johnny” Abaray, Jr. and his wife Sue of Acushnet, Blaine Abaray and his wife Donna of Fairhaven, twins Rachelle St. Pierre and her husband Claude of Westport, Regina Araujo and her husband Silvino of Fall River, and Mark Abaray and his companion Cheryl of Brockton; her grandchildren, Blaine Abaray, Jr. and his wife Laura, Jocelyn Martins and her husband Kevin, Nicholas Abaray and his companion Alison, Monique St. Pierre, Joshua St. Pierre, Heather Aguillard and Nicole Duplechain and her husband Jorden; her great-grandchild, Cameran Abaray; and several nieces and nephews. Sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Abaray. She was our kind neighbor on Hillcrest Rd., our first home. She made our son a blanket when he was born and I still think of her when I see it. She and her husband were the best neighbors. My thoughts are with her family.

I knew Aunt Armande as a kind great aunt who loved her family very much. I had the honor of hosting her at my wedding in 2015, and introducing her to my wife before she passed. I’ll miss her, especially since she is the last Menard sibling. I know she that she now is with her brothers in Heaven above, and wish her a peaceful rest. My condolences to her children and their families.

I will never forget you.
