Christine Tarini

July 2, 1952November 1, 2018

Christine Tarini of Acushnet, MA, born July 2, 1952, daughter of the late Lionel and Elise (Pelletier) Bouchard, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Christine leaves behind her beloved husband Joseph Tarini, sister Michelle (Bouchard) Galica of New Jersey, brother Jean of Washington State; nephew Jonathan, his wife Denise, and great-niece Whiskey Belle of NH, niece Erika of New Bedford, and many cousins in the New Bedford area, as well as dear friends who were her loving extended family.

Christine graduated from St. Anthony High School in New Bedford, and attended Bristol County Community College in Fall River.

Before her retirement, Christine worked at Grape Street Orthopedics for many years, ending her career as Office Manager. Christine was active in her community, having taught First communion classes at Our Lady of Fatima church, as well as being involved in their Youth Group. Christine volunteered as an “end of life” visitor for patients to which she gave comfort through reiki.

Christine was an avid bowler, reiki practitioner and lover of all animals, especially, over the years, her family of cats. With friends and family, Christine loved to go out and listen to music and dance the night away. She was known for her delicious potato salad and grapenut pudding. Christine loved to visit the Clydesdales in Lakeville, MA as well as the miniature horses and donkeys at the Peace for Ponies Farm in Buzzards Bay. There wasn’t an animal that she met she didn’t want to love and take care of.

Christine will be missed by all who knew her.

Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 9AM from Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4256 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Chris was an amazing woman she loved William and helped Peace for Ponies so much in many ways. She showed up for Williams and Bens Birthdays with amazing gifts and a glow ready to celebrate. Chris was such a great support and the animals all loved her, she will always be remembered. . Even in her passing she has chose to support us and we are so grateful for her kindness and her wonderfulness will be missed by us all. We are seeking something to dedicate in her name it will be special. Her compassion will never be forgotten. Fly free... everyone at Peace for Ponies it thankful to have known you..

Bob and I had a great time when Chris, Michelle and Jonathan visited Seattle for the Bumpershoot Music Festival. Good times, good music and good friends! We also hiked in the meadows on Mt. Rainier during the wildfire bloom and had the pleasure of seeing a young bear peeking around a tree... I was nervous but Chris stood as close as possible to get a good look! RIP Chris and hope you get to check out the Rainbow Bridge and meet up with the animals you have loved throughout your life!!

I have been privileged to walk beside you in this life during the last forty years. I will remember your humility, your kindness, and your selflessness most. My fondest remembrances were when my children were young and we spent a summer together. I appreciated your help. I have captured snapshots in my mind -- I see the day I stood at your back porch and welcomed you to the neighborhood; a chance meeting at fathoms; a hot fudge sundae with strawberry ice cream on your birthday; a morning spent together after my granddaughter was born. Too many to share -- so many to cherish. I will miss you. You made this world a better place by being you.

When I first met Christine we talked about our love of animals, especially cats and donkeys, feeding the backyard birds and any other animal that ventured into the yard. We went to the Peace for Ponies open house and enjoyed the animals close up and personal. Rest in peace my friend, you fought a valiant fight....love, Gail
