Christopher Golda, 58, of Acushnet, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Old Colony RVTHS, class of 1985, where he was enrolled in the electrical program.
To know Chris was to love Chris. He was unapologetically himself, and you could always rely on him to tell you like it was. He was a hard worker who spent his career operating heavy machinery alongside his father, John Golda, in the family business, Acushnet Trenching, as well as with several local construction and excavation companies. At one point in his career, he also drove 18-wheelers.
Chris worked hard and played hard until the very end. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Jeopardy! and the History Channel, and he was also known for his love of crossword puzzles. Chris’ greatest life accomplishments will always be his children, Erik and Lauren. He would brag about them to just about anyone, constantly sharing how proud he was of them.
Chris is survived by his parents, John and Bernice Golda of Acushnet; his son, Erik Golda of Acushnet; his daughter, Lauren Golda of New Bedford; his brothers, Paul and Matt Golda; and five nephews.
All arrangements will be private. A celebration of life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
