

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Romeo G. and Josephine (Bell) Lacombe, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a communicant of the former St. Mary’s Church, New Bedford.
Mrs. Hazell was a homemaker. Claire was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lakeville, and the Panthers Social Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending summers on Lake Winnipesaukee in Laconia, NH.
She leaves a son Dr. Kenn W. Hazell and his wife Blanca of Coral Springs, FL; two granddaughters, Kelly M. Hazell of Winter Springs, FL and Natalie E. Hazell of Winter Park, FL; a sister, Rita Andrade of New Bedford; three nephews, Charlton Hazell of Freetown, Mark Lacombe of Dartmouth and Peter Lacombe of New Bedford; four nieces, Gail Machado and Donna Makin of New Bedford, Heidi Cope of Buzzards Bay and Laurie Gibbs of Rochester, MA. She was the sister-in-law of Elaine Lacombe and the sister of the late Romeo Jr. and William Lacombe and sister-in-law of the late Doris (Hazell-LaPre) Judy.
Her funeral will be Saturday March 26, 2022 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
