Connie was born on June 14, 1941, in Ribeira Chã, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, to Jesuina Furtado Brum and Mariano Luiz Pacheco. She was one of four sisters, growing up alongside Natalie, Alice, and Maria.
In 1952, at the age of 11, Connie immigrated with her family to New Bedford, Massachusetts. She grew up surrounded by family, including many beloved cousins, and graduated from New Bedford High School in 1961.
In 1971, Connie met Edward “Eddie” Kenneth Rose. The two married in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, and began a life together filled with family, adventure, hard work, and entrepreneurship. In 1972, they welcomed their son, Stephan.
Connie was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for most of her adult life and cherished her congregation and the opportunity to share her faith through the ministry. Her faith was an important part of who she was and how she lived her life.
Connie was also a true world traveler. She loved experiencing different cultures, meeting people, and learning about the world around her. Her warm and joyful personality made everyone feel welcome. She was known for her genuine kindness, infectious happiness, and the way she greeted people—with a big hug and a traditional Portuguese kiss.
Connie and Eddie were lifelong entrepreneurs, building their lives together with determination, creativity, and a strong work ethic. Their partnership was an important part of their story and their many years together.
Eddie passed away on May 1, 2023, and Connie carried his memory with her in the years that followed.
Connie will be deeply missed by her son, Stephan; her sisters, Natalie, Alice, and Maria; extended family and friends; and all those fortunate enough to have known her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, family, and an open heart that welcomed everyone she met.
She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the joy she brought to the lives of others.
Her visitation will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery, Main St., Acushnet. For online tribute/directions please visit www.rock-funeralhome.com.
