Doris J. Cloutier
November 29, 1938 – February 18, 2021
Doris J (Tetreault) Cloutier, 82 of Acushnet passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Roland R. Cloutier. Born in Marion, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ovide & Josephine Tetreault. She had resided in Acushnet for the past 50 years. She graduated from St Anthony High School in New Bedford in 1957 and St Anne’s Nursing School in fall River in 1960. Doris worked for many years as an emergency room nurse for Parkwood Hospital and as a visiting nurse for the Town of Acushnet.
Doris enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends. She was an avid quilter, belonging to the Shining Tides Quilting Guild. She would often spend weeks at a time hand stitching full-sized heirloom quality quilts. She made and donated numerous quilts to the veterans Association, and was a quilting instructor. Doris also made many hats and blankets for newborn babies that she donated through local hospitals and women’s shelters.
She was an excellent cook and loved to share her talents with family and friends. She meticulously maintained her flower and vegetable gardens and used her fresh produce extensively in her cooking. She also loved to watch the wildlife in her yard, especially all the different types of birds and could identify nearly every bird by sight and by its call.
She is survived by her 3 sisters, Annette Lawrence of Florida, Paulette McKay of Swansea, and Suzanne Tetreault of Westport, and two brothers, Ovide Tetreault and wife Bonnie of Idaho, and Arthur Tetreault and wife Inez of Vermont. She is survived by her 5 children, Roland Cloutier Jr. and wife Vanessa of Wareham, Suzanne Bernier of Dartmouth, Tom Cloutier of Texas, Paul Cloutier of Acushnet, and Cathy Charpentier and husband Paul of Acushnet. Doris has 5 grandchildren, Nick Charpentier and wife Kara, Ben Charpentier, and Abby Charpentier all of Acushnet, and Emma Bernier and Jack Bernier of Dartmouth. She also has several cousins, nieces and nephews.

To the Cloutier family,
I'm sorry to hear about Dorris she was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. When I first moved in she made blue berry muffins they were so delicious. I appreciate all the great conversations we had on our property lines and the beautiful blanket she made for my wedding and being a veteran. I will greatly miss her.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing Doris. She was a truly great lady. Doris was an artist in everything she did. Her nickname at Shinning Tides was Martha because of her outstanding cooking and the artistry she put into everything she did. Her creativity and needle work was outstanding But unlike her famous- counterpart, she did it out of love. Doris was generous with her talent and time. She naturally generated beauty and love. She put it in all she did and simply gave it away. An artist in everything- quilting , cooking , gardening , nursing and befriending--She will be greatly missed.

To the family of Doris,
My mother, Dorothy Roncka, always spoke so highly of Doris and said she was such a pleasure to be around. While a small condolence, please take some comfort that she had a major positive impact on so many people's lives.

Doris was Sweet Lady, who my Family came to appreciate durning our time playing Acushnet Little League Baseball. She always had a Warm meal for the Players and Coaches to chow on after the Games, that saved parents a lot of runs to Fast Foods establishment.. But, mostly she was kind, warm, and cherished by all. My Family would like to offer our Condolences to Cathy and Family.
