Douglas J. Avery

Doug was born on December 09, 1972 in New Bedford to the late John and Alice (Plaud) Avery.

He is survived by his daughter Lillian Avery and son Douglas Avery Jr. of New Bedford; Siblings Sue Ouimet, Allison Magalhaes, Laurie Settele, Gregory Avery and Crystal Dumas. He was the brother of the late John Avery Jr. As well as many Nieces and Nephews.

Doug loved his family dearly; but most importantly he loved spending time with his children Lilly and Doug. He was a lifelong painter by trade. He had a heart of gold and would make a friend out of anyone and was always trying to make someone smile and laugh. He loved cooking, watching movies, sports, and hanging out with his geckos. Doug’s smile would light up a room with his huge dimples, his big hugs and loving free spirit.

Life is what you make it and Doug made it beautiful.

His visitation is on December 16, 2022 9-11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to Cold Blooded Pets of Acushnet MA.
