

Eleanor Cabral passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford, MA. Eleanor was just one month away from celebrating her 97th birthday.
Eleanor was the loving wife of the late Alfred Cabral, who absolutely adored her. They were married 64 wonderful years at the time of his passing.
Eleanor was a homemaker who took great pride of her beautiful yard and garden. Eleanor enjoyed making jams and jellies from her grape vines and fruit tree to share with family and friends. She loved to sew her own clothes and make dresses for her young nieces. She also just loved to just sit and watch the birds and rabbits in her yard. For many years, Eleanor assisted her husband with his photography business and his help with the Whaling City Youth Baseball League.
Eleanor was born in Fairhaven, MA and spent most of her life in New Bedford, MA.
She was the daughter of the late Ethel (Rose) and Joseph Dias. Eleanor was raised by her late Aunt and Uncle (Godparents) Mary (Rose) and Manuel Roderick.
She was the sister to the late Flora Johnson, Esther Martin and husband John, Elsie Ferreira and husband Donald, and Albert Dias. She is survived by her sister in law Jeannette Dias.
Eleanor is survived by her nieces and nephew who she loved and showed much pride in.
Esther Emard (Goddaughter) and husband Rick, Robert Ferreira and wife Denise, Lu-Ann Mello and husband Tony, and Alice Pelletier and husband Mike. A Godson, Gary Marcondes. Eleanor is survived by three generations of great nieces and nephews. She was the Aunt to the late John Martin.
Her niece Lu-Ann and husband Tony would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Sacred Heart Home for all their support and the compassion and love they showed Eleanor during this very difficult journey she traveled.
In accordance with her wishes, Eleanor will be cremated and her burial private.
Arrangements are in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
