Ella Rose Wilber

Ella Rose Wilber, 98, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at her daughter's home in Middleboro. She was born in New Bedford, MA on January 6, 1926; the daughter of the late Cecil and Ella White.

Ella was a lifelong New Bedford resident. She was employed for many years for the Shepard Clothing Company in New Bedford as a bookkeeper and payroll supervisor before her retirement. Ella's retirement did not last long however, she went right back to work doing odd jobs before landing at Lech Garage & Auto Body in New Bedford, where she worked until the age of 95. Ella was so proud to work at the garage. She would get the biggest kick out of riding in a tow truck during snowstorms.

Ella, although a little stubborn, had the biggest heart and would help anyone that needed it. She loved gardening and would spend hours outside planting and working in the yard. She loved her cats and enjoyed traveling; going on many trips with her daughter and son-in-law. Her greatest achievement in life was her family.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, George Wilber; her brother, Cecil White and sister-in-law, Gertrude, her son-in-law, David Perkins, Sr., her great grandson, Michael Perkins and a sister-in-law, Joan White.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Perkins of Middleboro, MA; her brother, Desmond "Butch" White of Rochester, MA; three grandchildren, Tami Bradford and her husband Walter of Middleboro, MA; Beth Perkins of Stuart, FL and David Perkins, Jr. of Worcester, MA; five great grandchildren, Ty Grannum, David Perkins III, Brittany Perkins, Kaitlyn Perkins, Madison Perkins and their mother, Lori Egan; as well as many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM in the funeral home. The Committal Service will follow at Taber Cemetery, Wing Road, Acushnet, Massachusetts 02743.
