

Dartmouth - Ema (Raposo) Oliveira, age 93, of Dartmouth, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jose Oliveira. She was born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Francisco and Angelina (Melo) Raposo. She immigrated to the United States in 1967 and lived in Acushnet, MA and Palm Coast, FL for the past 34 years before moving to Dartmouth in 2011.
Ema was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She worked for several years as a stitcher in area textile mills and was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking, especially malasadas and sweet bread.
She is survived by her two daughters: Manuela Arruda and her husband Joseph of Acushnet and Odette Pacheco and her husband José of Palm Coast, FL; four grandchildren: Robert Arruda of Boston, Kelly Fernandes and her husband Victor of New Bedford, Michelle Pacheco of New Bedford and Peter Pacheco and his wife Rachel of Lakeville; three great-grandchildren: Jake and Luke Fernandes and Evelyn Rose Pacheco; one niece and five nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 8:00 am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a Funeral Mass at 9:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
