Ernest E. Guinen, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The Cottages of Dartmouth Village at the age of 83. He was born September 09,1941, in Fall River, to Ernest E. Guinen and Alice (Terceira) Guinen. Known to family and friends as “Skip”, he was a graduate of Durfee High School. After high school, Ernest enlisted in the United States Air Force where he learned computers. He was a computer systems analysist and worked with the early version of computers that took up an entire room and required punch cards in order to operate.
He met the love of his life, while still enlisted in the Service, as a blind date he almost didn’t attend. They went bowling and he would tell stories of how captivated he was by her immediately. They were married 5 months later in July of 1965. He ended up being married to Ann Marie (Oliver) Guinen for more than 55 years, until her passing in 2021after a long battle with cancer.
Ernie worked for more than 20 years for Acushnet Company/Titleist. He then transitioned to Analog Devices in Norwood where he was a manager for many years. Although he worked almost 50 miles away from home, he never missed a baseball or hockey game or a figure skating competition for his two children, Stephanie and Scott. He would often talk about how proud he was of both of his children to anyone who would listen.
Ernest is survived by his brothers Kenneth Guinen with former wife Beverly and Gary Guinen with wife Louise; daughter Stephanie A. Morais and her husband Michael; son Scott F. Guinen and his wife Erin, and five (5) grandchildren, Brandon, Hayley, Camryn, Jackson and Chace; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at St. John Neumann Church in Freetown, MA. Burial services will be done at a later date with family.
