Fern was a beautiful, strong, determined person with an infectious smile and a life of the party personality. Fern was a true diva and always made her presence known when she entered a room. She always made a lasting impression. She was truly the best sister anyone could ever have been lucky enough to have. She was an amazing, dedicated mother, wife, daughter, aunt and godmother. She was loved by many and will be forever missed.

Fernanda was born in the Aҫores, a daughter of Jose and Maria Nunes of New Bedford and a 1990 graduate of New Bedford High School. She was an Assistant Manager for Hannoush Jewelers in Taunton for 23 years, she enjoyed traveling and cherished the time spent with her family.

She was the devoted wife of Michael and the loving mother of Sydney and Avery; the sister of Paula Del Ponte and her husband Vic of Gales Ferry, CT and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00AM in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. My crazy, lovely Fern. For twenty plus years we were sharing and making memories of friends, events, families ....Now you are gone. You always could make me laugh, even when I didn’t feel like it. You were always there if I needed you. I’m so glad you made it to my Daughters wedding (that was the last time I saw you) I will always cherish our friendship.
You gave me a bracelet once that said Hero on it, I don’t remember what I did but Fern, you are MY hero.

Love you always diva!

I knew Fern for many years visiting the Hannoush store in Taunton. She was always a bright and uplifting person to greet you. Her smile would light up the store, her sense of humor sharp and funny. Rest In Peace you beautiful lady. Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Bob McMahan

Words cannot express how deeply saddened Danny and I are to hear of the loss of our dear friend Fern . We have been so blessed to have known such a special lady. I have have had the pleasure of knowing her for over 25 years and in that time though maybe not getting to be together as often as we wanted to we always tried to be in touch with one another . You are all in our thoughts and prayers . Love Donna and Danny

To the family of Fern,

I had the opportunity to know Fern for the past 23 years as we met at her work place Hannoush Jewelers. I was fortunate enough that she came to my wedding with Ali on January 30th 1999 and was part of my special day. She always had me laughing when I went to the store, and honestly sometimes it was just to say hi to Fern (okay and Ali too). I loved to see her and the amazing outfits she had on and of course she always looked stunning and had this zest for life! We talked about our children and families and she had this infectious smile! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the love she gave and the memories she created. She touched so many and surely is the best dressed looking angel in heaven.

Love Tammy Whittaker

I was the principal of Ashley School when First Sydney and then Avery started school there. Fern changed the temperature in every room she entered! Awesome mom! So sorry for your unbearable loss.
