Francelina Moniz

Born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Travers) Simmons she was raised in

Dartmouth and lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was a communicant of the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mrs. Moniz was a supervisor in the dry winding department at Aerovox Corp. for 45 years. She had a long standing commitment

every Thursday night to pray the Novena to St. Jude at Our Lady's Chapel in downtown New Bedford, MA.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Chisholm (and her husband Dan) of New Bedford; a son, Daniel A. Moniz (and his wife Anne) of Plymouth, MA and Savannah, GA; one brother, Richard Simmons of Acushnet; two sisters, Lydia Duarte and Natalie Kent both of New Bedford; and her beloved grandsons, Adam Moniz of Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, Matthew D. Chisholm (and his wife Rose) of Manhattan, NY and Derek R. Chisholm (and his wife Tricia) of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Simmons Jr., Mary Leite, and Incensia Simmons.

Her funeral will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 8 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd.,

New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 9 a.m. in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford.

Interment will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 p.m.
