After surviving the loss of his wife and sweetheart of nearly 70 years, Francis Anthony Lavine, joined his wife Barbara Ann Lavine (04/28/2022) on February 14, 2025. We imagine it was an amazing reunion as their daughters Kathy Ann (11/28/2009) and Karen Louise (06/14/1967) reunited with our parents.
Francis was born on September 27, 1940, in Hartford, Connecticut to Edmond Francis Lavine and Louise Margaret (Horan) Lavine.
Francis is survived by his sons, Michael K and Scott A, his daughter-in-law Kimberly S, and his grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Craig, Daniel, Timothy, Jessica, Nathan, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart, Barbara, and daughters Kathy and Karen, his daughter-in-law Renee’, his parents and sisters Vivian, Lois and Barbara.
Francis lived most of his early life in Springfield, MA until he graduated from Trade High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, Francis served aboard the USS Intrepid (CVS-11) with VA-76 in the Ordnance Section. For Dad, his time in the Navy was always a matter of pride and honor for him. Though, he did say he never felt “old”, until the USS Intrepid was made a museum in New York.
Francis and Barbara married while he was in the Navy and resided in Virginia Beach, VA. After his tour in the Navy, they returned to Springfield, MA and Francis entered the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Apprenticeship Program for CNC technician. Later, Francis would go on to work for Allen-Bradly Co and then the General Electric Company, maintaining technical and then technical-sales positions in each company.
He will always be remembered as an amazing Husband, Father, Son, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.
