Francisca M. Monteiro

Born in Pastoria, Chaves, Portugal, a daughter of the late Jose and Herminia (Martins) Rodrigues, she was a long-time resident of New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

Francisca loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She was deeply religious, enjoyed praying the rosary, crocheting, gardening and cooking, and was an avid Benfica fan.

She is survived by her children, Antonio Monteiro and his wife Julia of New Bedford, Natercia Salgado and her husband Jose of New Bedford, Cidalia Monteiro of New Bedford, Maria do Carmo Monteiro and her companion Luis of Portugal; four grandchildren, Steven Salgado and his fiancé Kayla of West Warwick, Christopher Monteiro and his wife Ashley of New Bedford, Lisa Salgado of New Bedford and Matthew Monteiro and his wife Brooke of New Bedford, 3 great-granddaughters, Francesca M. Monteiro, Filipa J. Monteiro and Ainsley G. Salgado; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA. Relatives and friends are invited.
