Garry R. Rodrigues

Garry R. Rodrigues, 56, of West Wareham, formerly of Fairhaven, passed away May 15, 2016 at Forestview Transitional Care and Rehabilitation after a 3 year long courageous battle with cancer. He was the former husband of Cynthia A. Rodrigues.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Raymond and Theodora “Tillie” (Quirk) Rodrigues, he was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

He had worked at Morse Cutting Tools, Polaroid Corp. and most recently was a self-employed painter and handyman. He thoroughly enjoyed wallpapering and painting.

Garry loved the outdoors, especially camping, kayaking, biking and swimming. He enjoyed traveling, trips to New Hampshire and visiting his large circle of friends. Garry loved life and was happiest spending time with his loving family and friends. He was a proud member of the GFBG group in Boston.

Garry’s family would like to thank Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, Forest view Transitional Care and Rehabilitation and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

His family includes a daughter, Kristen C. Bastarache and her husband Jeremy of Lakeville; two sons, Matthew and Ross Rodrigues of MA; three sisters, Sheila Dlugosinski and her husband Karl of Mattapoisett, Sandra Kuczewski of New Bedford and Kathryn Leonard of NC; one brother, Paul Rodrigues of NC; three grandchildren, Brooke and Brynn Bastarache and Matthew Rodrigues; aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews, who all held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by two brothers, Steven and David Rodrigues.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5-8pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, 206 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
