Gerard “Jerry” R. Lebeau, 78, of Acushnet passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 in his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with Cancer. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Leo R. and Agnes M.R. (Dulmaine) Lebeau, Jerry met and married the love of his life, Pauline (Collins) Lebeau with whom he enjoyed a life full of love and adventure for over 54 years of marriage. They raised 5 beautiful children, Tina Cormier and her husband Dustin, Scott Lebeau, Darlene Boutin and her husband Peter, Tammy Lebeau, and Heidi Lebeau all of Acushnet. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his beloved 5 grandchildren, Bailey, Maxx, Benjamin, Ella, and Abigail.
Jerry is additionally survived by his two sisters, Muriel Gouveia and husband James of Acushnet, as well as Diane Travers and her late husband William of New Bedford, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jeanne M.R. Duval and husband Leon, Lucille Brousseau, and Claudette Desruisseau and her husband Richard.
Jerry worked in building maintenance for Pilgrim United Church of Christ and the Westport Housing Authority until his retirement. There is no better way to remember Jerry than his gentle blue eyes and warm smile. He loved to laugh and he was a phenomenal story teller. Jerry had the gift to make friends with everyone he met. He was famously known for asking, “What’s for supper?” at breakfast. He took great pride in the many projects he worked on through the years and always found a solution to any problem.
He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and he would often be seen on his John Deere Tractor taking on any job that needed to be done. Jerry had a true love and compassion for animals, especially horses. Jerry and Pauline were the owners of four cherished horses, Daisy, Jake, Luke, and Katie. Through every second of his life, Jerry was surrounded by the same love he gave back to his friends and family, who will forever remember him as the excellent husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend he always was.
