Gerardo A. Amaral, age 41 of New Bedford, passed away suddenly at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, MA. He was the husband of Stacey L. (Cabral) Amaral to whom he had been married for 16 years.
He was born in St. Michael, Azores, the son of Dimas and Maria (Carreiro) Conceicao Amaral of New Bedford. Gerardo was employed as a Laborer with MON Landscaping for the past years in Dartmouth and prior to that MAG Irrigation. He was a member of Laborers’ Local 385 in Fairhaven.
Gerardo was a proud and loving father, who loved to spend his time with his children, playing soccer, attending all of their games and being the loudest “soccer dad” on the field. He was known for his goofy sense of humor, his large heart & always willing to go above & beyond for anyone. “No” was never in his vocabulary for the people he loved & he never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
Gerardo also enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team FC Porto and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he is survived by his two children Aiden and Mackenzie Amaral; two sisters Sonia Fernandes and her husband Roberto of New Bedford and Monica Ferreira and her husband Chris of New Bedford; two brothers Ilidio and Marco Amaral both of Providence; his grandmother Maria Carreiro of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
