Germaine I. (Parent) St. Gelais, age 90, of Acushnet, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford. She was the wife of Donald St. Gelais to whom she had been married for 69 years.
She was born in New Bedford on June 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Ludger and Irene (Lapalme) Parent and was educated in local schools.
Germaine was a beautiful woman inside and out always loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved singing, her flower gardens, taking care of her family, especially her devoted husband Donald who she called her “Honey Bunny”.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Jeannine Cabral and her husband Michael of New Bedford, Michelle Alves and her husband Steven of Wareham, Donald St. Gelais of Acushnet, Robert St. Gelais and his wife Cheryl of Fairhaven, and Steven St. Gelais and his wife Maureen of Wareham; nine grandchildren Brett, Nicholas, Jamison, Jason, Jared, and Shane St. Gelais, Kristen Guerin, Courtney Alves, and Emily Cambra; eleven great grandchildren, and a sister Sr. Janine Parent.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-6pm in the funeral home.
