Germana Amaral

Born in Feteira Grande, Sao Miguel, Azores, daughter of the late Antonio Rocha Dutra and Maria (Amaral) Dutra, she came to the United States in 1969, returned to the Azores, then settled in New Bedford in 2006 following the death of her husband.

Mrs. Amaral loved spending time with her family, especially going for breakfast with her children every Saturday morning. She was fashionable and enjoyed clothes, prayed the rosary every night and lived life to its fullest.

Her family includes her children, Idalia Amaral, Heitor Amaral, and John Amaral and wife Rosemarie all of New Bedford, Teresa Figueira and husband Honorio of Raynham and Antonio Amaral and wife Alda of Acushnet; a sister, Luzia Andre of Brampton, Ontario, Canada; four grandchildren, Melissa McCrain and husband Christopher, Bethanie Amaral and fiancé Ryan Raymond, Antonio Amaral, Jr. and Pamela Amaral; two great-grandsons, Tyler McCrain and Jaxson Raymond; and several nieces and nephews including her close niece, Fatima Moniz Castelo. She was the sister of the late Evelina Dutra, Maria Jose Moniz, Irene Ferreira, Teresinha Furtado and Fatima Carreiro.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a Funeral Mass at 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
