Harris A. Fonseca

Born in Bristol, RI, a son of the late Antonio and Laurentina (Couto) Fonseca, he was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Bristol High School and later joined the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was employed as a foreman at Kaiser Aluminum, retiring in 1981. Harris loved his family, enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Audrey D. Mello and her husband Norman of Fairhaven and Judi Kaeterle of New Bedford; a brother, Daniel Fonseca and his wife Barbara of Bristol; a sister, Natalie Nencka and her husband Frank of Warren; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Steven W. Sherman, and brother of the late Lillian Costa and Norbert and Antone Fonseca.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 9:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, Ma 02745, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Joseph- St. Therese Parish, Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford, MA 02745.
