

Born in North Fairhaven, she was the daughter of the late Jean Louis and Marie Edmire (Cormier) Tremblay. Following her marriage to Joseph in 1940, Mrs. Jovin moved to Acushnet where she was a life-long resident and devoted communicant of St-Francis Xavier.
Henriette loved to dance and with a close group of friends she frequently visited venues featuring big band music until well into her ‘80s. As a young woman, she enjoyed dancing the Quadrilles at the Franco-American Progressive Club in Fairhaven where both her father and brother were callers.
Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Mémère, she was a fun-loving mother who went sledding with her children; a native French speaker, a card player who hated to lose and a model of patience and grace.
Survivors include her son; George Jovin and his wife Martha of Hallowell, ME, three daughters; Doris Gazda and her husband Edward of Vero Beach, FL, Jeannette Taylor and her husband Dennis of Acushnet, Theresa Oliver and her husband John of Acushnet, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Harmos “Joe”, Raymond, Romeo and Roger Tremblay, Juliette Gagne, Emilia Bernard and Hilaire Tremblay.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 9:00AM at ROCK Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM at St Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main Street, Acushnet, MA. Visiting Hours will be Thursday from 5-8pm. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Century House in Acushnet.
