She was born in Terceira, Azores, the daughter of the late Jose and Ermelinda (Jesus) Soares.
She is survived by her two daughters: Grace Fernandes of W. Wareham and Maria Viana of New Bedford; three beloved grandchildren: Sonia Tavares, Susana Mattos, and Ricardo Viana, six great-grandchildren: Ricardo Viana, Jr., Dominic Viana, Janessa Viana, Colin Mattos, Chloe Mattos, and Livia Love Tavares and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10:30am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at 12pm in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Rivet St., New Bedford. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30am. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
