

Inacio S. Baptista, age 66, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born in Praia, Cape Verde, he was the beloved husband of Rosa (Andrade) Baptista, with whom he shared over 33 wonderful years. Rosa was the love of his life, and together they built a strong and loving family.
Inacio was the cherished son of the late Bernardo and Joana (Lopes) Baptista. He proudly served as a Police Officer in the Cape Verde Army before moving to the United States in 1988, where he worked for many years as a dedicated truck driver.
A proud and hardworking man, Inacio lived his life with joy, generosity, and a deep love for those around him. He was known for his incredible cooking, his passion for dancing, and his ability to light up any room—he was truly the life of the party. He enjoyed watching soccer, traveling, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness. Inacio had a special place in his heart for children and animals and was always happiest when surrounded by loved ones.
In addition to his devoted wife, Rosa, Inacio is survived by his loving sons: Igor Baptista of New Bedford, Helder Baptista of New Bedford, Ildefonso Monteiro of New Bedford and Lindebergue Monteiro of New Bedford ; eight grandchildren: Emily, Ellen, Helton, Maya, Johan, May, Dario and Danya; four brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for the love he gave, the strength he showed, and the joy he spread.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Visitation on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
