Irene Banas

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Jankowski) Zysk, she lived in Acushnet for over 40 years before residing in New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Irene attended Campbell Secretary School, and worked as an office clerk in the billing department for Lisak Shoe Co. for many years. She was a former member of the St. Hedwig Seniors and the Polish American War Veterans Auxiliary Association.

She is survived by a son, Paul Banas and his wife Diane of New Bedford; a daughter, Sharon Canto and her husband John of Raynham; two grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Beth and Matthew and his wife Anne; three great-grandchildren, Fox, Xen and Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mitchell Zysk.

Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 9AM to 10:30AM at the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at 11AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 No. Front St., New Bedford.
