Irene Jean Dufresne

Irene was the fifth of six children born to Rose (Corre) Stahl and Joseph Corre. Her childhood was full of wonderful memories of her sisters and brother while growing up in New Bedford, MA.

The strong bonds that were established during her early life led to close sibling relationships in her adult life. Although the Depression was part of her growing up, she never felt deprived as a child. She was happy being surrounded by her loving family show provided a safe and comforting environment for her and her family.

Irene worked at Revere Copper and Brass where she made many lifelong friends. Irene also made many friends while she resided at Bentley Commons in Bedford, NH.

Although Irene and Wilfred did not have any biological children, she was extremely close to all her nieces and nephews, and in many instances a “mother-like” figure. Irene had many positive traits. She was a grateful person who expected little from others. She laughed easily and often and rarely had a negative word. She was a vibrant and caring individual who loved her family above all else. She was religious and prayed often finding peace with her loved ones in heaven. She will remain in our hearts always.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. For online tribute/directions: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
