Irene Evelyn Roderiques

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and the late Evelyn ( Alfredo) Roderiques. Irene lived in New Bedford until moving to Stuart, Florida 40 years ago. She resided in Stuart for 35 years, returning to New Bedford four and a half years ago.

A New Bedford High School graduate, she went on to earn her Master's in Nursing from SMU, now UMass Dartmouth.

A proud Registered Nurse, she worked for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital. In Florida, she worked in leadership roles for Jupiter Medical Center for many years. She also worked for Stuart Health and retired as a QI Supervisor at MiHom Healthcare in 2014.

Following retirement, she enjoyed working part time at Home Depot where she greeted customers.

She became the “Matriarch” of the Roderiques family after the death of her parents and aunts and uncles. Lovingly called “Madrinha” and “Dina” by her many nieces and nephews made her most proud.

She is survived by her brothers Simon Roderiques and his companion Sandy, Manny and Richard Roderiques all of New Bedford; her sister in laws Norma and Bonnie Roderiques; her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Judy Robert, Larry and John Roderiques and sister in law of the late Lynne Roderiques.

Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 12noon in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be prior to her Service from 10am to 12 noon. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Southcoast Oncology, 206 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will be private.
