Irene Y. Griffin Rodrigues

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George and Germaine (Frenette) Griffin, she was a lifelong resident of the city.

Mrs. Rodrigues had worked as a sample maker for Elco Dress Co. for many years until her retirement.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, sewing, spending time at the beach and the company of her loving family.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Rodrigues and his wife Rolande of Westport; a daughter, Nancy Souza and her husband Charles of Westport; sisters, Doris Chase and her late husband Ralph of New Bedford and Jan Biritz and her late husband James of Kansas City, Kansas; a granddaughter, Michelle Miranda and her husband John of S. Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews including Lisa Cabral of New Bedford, George and Denise Sroor, Kim and Tina Howard, Michelle, Mike and Jenny Biritz all of Missouri; and several cousins.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 8am from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.
