OBITUARY

Jeanne Roy

Jeanne Olivette Lea (Langlois) Roy, age 92, of New Bedford and formerly of West Warwick, RI, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Alden Court in Fairhaven. She was the wife of the late Yvon L. Roy.

Born in West Warwick, RI, a daughter of the late Leon and Alberta (Bettez) Langlois, she had lived in West Warwick for over 75 years before moving to New Bedford 15 years ago.

An avid reader, Jeanne enjoyed crocheting, sewing and loved eating chocolate. She enjoyed spending time at the Fairhaven Senior Center, Active Day in Fairhaven and often volunteered at Gifts to Give.

Mrs. Roy’s family would like to send their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the amazing care Jeanne received while living there especially during these difficult times.

Survivors include: her loving daughter, Louise Roy Murphy and her husband Michael of New Bedford; three sons, David C. Roy of West Warwick, RI, Douglas A. Roy of Pittsfield, MA and Daniel A. Roy and his wife Elizabeth also of West Warwick, RI; four grandchildren, Christine Ross and her husband Eric, Micaela Murphy Shea and her husband Marc, Colin Murphy and Kiernan Murphy and his fiance Alyssa O'Brien; six great grandchildren, Austin, Brandon and Tyler Bailey, Jacob, Rebecca Lala and Samuel Ross; one brother, Arthur Langlois of Albuquerque, NM and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her two amazing aunts, Bertha and Jeanette Langlois, who raised her after her mother passed away at a very young age. She was grandmother of the late David E. Roy and sister of the late Rachel Courcy and Therese Coutu.

Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, her funeral and burial will be private for immediate family. A public memorial mass celebrating Jeanne's life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Alden Court, Activities Department, 389 Alden Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Or Gifts to Give, 1 Titleist Drive, Acushnet, MA 02743.
