

Born in Barreiro, Portugal, he was the beloved husband of Maria M. (Trindade) Condeco, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Manuel D. Condeco and Maria A. (Dos Santos) Dos Santos.
Joao was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent more than 30 years as a supervisor at Kirwan Surgical Products. He also served some time in the Army National Guard.
A simple man with a generous heart, Joao was known for his warm personality, infectious smile, and wonderful sense of humor. He was a social person who enjoyed the company of family and friends and was always ready with a joke, a good laugh, or a story. He had a special gift for making those around him feel welcome and at home.
Family was Joao's greatest priority. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never hesitated to help others. He was a wonderful cook and loved gathering family and friends around good food and good wine. He enjoyed entertaining and creating memories with those he loved most. Joao also treasured his visits to Portugal, where he enjoyed spending time with family and maintaining the connection to his homeland.
He was actively involved in numerous social clubs in the New Bedford area and enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie they brought into his life. Those who knew Joao will remember him as a hardworking, caring, and generous family man who was always smiling and having a good time.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Maria M. Condeco; his loving daughter, Nela Araujo and her husband, Marcelo, of Worcester; his cherished granddaughter, Alina C. Araujo; his siblings, Maria Odete Sousa and Alberto Condeco of Portugal; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of several late siblings.
His visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 5:00p.m. service, in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
