Born in S.Felipe, Fogo-Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Fortunato Gomes de Pina and Maria Martina (Avelino) de Pina.
Survivors include a son, Raul Nogueira Gomes de Pina and his wife Luiza of Brockton; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters; many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 8:00AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will Friday, August 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM.
