João was born in Bretanha, São Miguel Island, and later immigrated to the United States to provide a better life for his family. He was the cherished son of the late João Paul Silva and Violente (Tomé) Silva. He was the devoted husband of Deolinda Silva, with whom he shared 53 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and unwavering support.
João was the heart of his family—a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. A loyal and hardworking provider, he dedicated his life to supporting his family and found his greatest pride and joy in caring for his grandchildren. A man of deep and unwavering faith, João lived his life guided by love, compassion, and a strong devotion to those he loved. He enjoyed sharing stories of his past, and his kind soul made all who knew him feel welcomed and loved. His gentle manner and warm smile brought comfort to those around him. Caring, generous, and quietly strong, he touched the lives of so many and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
João also had a special love for his dogs, Hope and Faith. They brought him great comfort and companionship, especially in life’s quieter moments. He cared for them with the same gentle love he showed his family, and it was clear they held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Ana Amaral and her husband Al of Acushnet, and Sandra Silva of Fall River; his son, Alexander Silva and his wife Jenna of Marion; five grandchildren, Page, Sadie, Alissa, Mia, and Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Preston and Vincent; and many nieces and nephews.
