Joaquim B. Gomes

Born in Beira Alta, Portugal, son of the late Antonio and Mercedes Borges Gomes, he was a long-time resident of New Bedford. Joaquim worked for many years as a landscaper. He was a member of Clube Recordacoes De Portugal, loved flowers and gardening, and enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team, Sporting.

He is survived by his loving children, John Gomes of Manchester, NH; Ana Cristina Gomes of Tampa, FL; and Susan Gomes and her partner Carlos Santos of New Bedford, two granddaughters, Karina Gomes and Anabella do Ceu Santos; surviving siblings Helena Gomes and Lucilia Gomes of Portugal, and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 8 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA 02745, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation to be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 4-6 p.m.
