OBITUARY
John Bruce Bento
December 20, 1938 – April 1, 2021
John B. Bento, 82 of New Bedford passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in St. Anne's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Diane J. (Poirier) DeMello Bento.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late John and Alexandria (Vardo) Bento, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. He was employed as a Maintenance Forman for Furniture City for more than 20 years prior to his retirement. John loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving and caring man, who was always willing to help others in need. He enjoyed camping, fishing and flea markets. He also enjoyed tinkering around the families home.
In addition to his loving wife Diane, he is survived by his children, Richard Bento and his wife Connie of New Bedford and Colleen Gonsalves of New Bedford; a brother Kenneth Rapoza of Fairhaven; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. He was the father of late Troy M. DeMello.
John's Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 12:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
