John K. DeTerra, Sr.

Born in Fairhaven, the son of the late Thomas and Ellen (Sheehan) DeTerra. John was employed at Norlantic Diesel Shipyard in Fairhaven, then prior to his retirement he was the owner operator of J. DeTerra and Sons HVAC. John was a hard worker and loved to work.

John unconditionally loved all his children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. John and his wife Suzanne loved to travel with family and friends. They enjoyed entertaining people in their home especially during the holidays. They frequently took trips to the casino. John was an avid Bowler for decades.

In addition to his wife Suzanne, he is survived by his children, John DeTerra, Jr., Marcel DeTerra, Neil DeTerra and his wife Leanne and Cory DeTerra and his fiancée Jade; his grandchildren, Jaime, Jason, Joshua, Mariah, Morgan, Montana, Madison, Ethan, Cayden, Eivin, Emilia and soon to be grandson Oliver; his great grandchildren, Kolten, Ace and Salem; his siblings, Robert DeTerra and his late wife Blanche and Kenneth DeTerra and his wife Linda; He was the father of the late Lori Donnelly and brother of the late Thomas DeTerra and his wife Margaret.

His visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 5 to 7PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 10AM at St. Gabriel of the Archangel, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
