Jose B. Faria, age 77, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Maria C. (Soares) Faria with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Maia, Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Jacinto C. and Maria C. (Bettencourt) Faria, he came to the United States in 1965 and settled in New Bedford.
Most recently he had worked at St. Luke’s Hospital as a security guard and in the laundry department. He previously worked at Fiber Leather and Cove Discount.
Jose enjoyed working in his garden, tending to his grapevines and caring for his animals on his son’s farm.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Antonio Faria and his companion Susan of Acushnet; a daughter, Kathy Cardoso and her husband Jose of New Bedford; a brother, Manuel Faria and his wife Edwarda of Acushnet; a grandson, Robert Tetreault, Jr; a niece, Susan Faria; and nephews, Jesse and Robert Faria.
